Twenty keys for success in your job and career.

  1. Accept work as God’s gift, not as punishment. ( …to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. Ecc. 5:19).
  2. Recognize God as your true employer and celebrate your boss (With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men. Eph. 6:7)
  3. Pursue work compatible with your abilities and interests (Neglect not the gift that is in thee. 1 Timothy 4:14)
  4. Learn everything possible about your job (A wise man will hear; and will increase learning. Proverbs 1:5)
  5. Don’t be a time thief (Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 4:28)
  6. Keep a daily to-do list and establish deadlines (To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes. 3:1).
  7. Ask for God’s wisdom during decision-making (If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5).
  8. Use criticism to your advantage (poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. Proverbs 13:18)
  9. Be honest about your mistakes (He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13)
  10. Be quick to ask for help and information when needed (For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war; and in a multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 24:5,6)
  11. Assist others in their responsibilities whenever possible (Withhold not good from them to who it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Proverbs 3:27)
  12. Project Jesus in genuine love and enthusiasm (The servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient. 2 Timothy 2:24)
  13. Do not spread garbage (Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23)
  14. Project an attitude of forgiveness, mercy and favour on your job (Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Matthew 5:7)
  15. Do more than is expected of you (And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Matthew 5: 41).
  16. Learn to harness your anger and control your spirit (He that no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. Proverbs 25:28).
  17. Keep accurate records (Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. Proverbs 27:23)
  18. Avoid flattery and do not give undeserved praise (As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool… Provernss 26: 8, 28)
  19. Refuse the bondage of bribery and the influence of intimidation (Be not afraid of their faces; for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 1:8).
  20. Make Jesus Christ your divine work partner (And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him. Ephesians 6:9)
