Thulisile Nomkhosi (Thuli) Madonsela and Mogoeng Thomas Reetsang are two examples of born again Christians standing boldly and shining brightly. Thuli, an advocate and the Public Protector of South Africa is the lady that found that President Zuma benefited unduly from the R246 million the state had spent on his Nkandla home upgrade. Mogoeng, the current Chief Justice of South Africa, ruled recently that Zuma didn’t uphold, depend and respect the Constitution when he failed to comply with Public Protector’s remedial order. While reading his landmark judgment, he likened Thuli to a “Biblical David… who fights the most powerful, and very resourced Goliath that impropriety and corruption by government officials are.” Mogoeng who is not afraid to talk about his faith in public once said “I am one of those believers who believe that there is God and God does speak.” Thuli and Mogoeng, teach us that when we stand boldly for Christ and truth even in the midst of a corrupt society, we bring glory to God and we impact and encourage the people around us. This week, let us arise and shine in a world that is getting darker and darker. Let’s be bold and take a stand for Christ!
