Eulogy to Eunice

During our family devotion yesterday morning we prayed for your husband and children that God will comfort them and be with them. I didn’t bother to pray for you because I know you are in a better place because Jesus said ‘he (or she) that believeth, though he were dead yet shall he (she) live…but this morning I asked this question. Was it foolish of you to preach or do morning cry at 5-6 am in a place abounding with enemies of the gospel? No. You were courageous. You loved Jesus more than life or any precious thing. I know God could have saved you like he did previously but I guess you had finished your assignment…Perhaps, you have met Stephen, James, and about 70 million Christians martyred for their faith since Jesus walked the earth. Your death also reminds me of Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming and Roger Youderian who were attacked and speared by a group of Huaorani warriors. Their death eventually led to the conversion of many, including some of those involved in the killing… You have now joined the great cloud of witnesses, watching us…and may we too fight the good fight and finish well.

God be with you till we meet at Jesus feet.

Your brother.
