Thankful Living.

Ontlametse Phalatse is a living, breathing miracle. She suffers from Progeria, a rare genetic disorder which causes premature aging and she is the only known black female born with this disease. Doctors predicted she would only live until the age of 14 however she celebrated her 18th birthday few days ago. When asked to speak during the event, she said “It is just an honour to be here, I am truly blessed.” Phalatse didn’t focus on her problem rather she was grateful for life . Thankful living is having an attitude of gratitude 24-7. Thankful living is also a matter of perspective. Instead of focusing on what is not working or what we don’t have, we should thank God for the most valuable thing in life which is our relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ. I was reminded about a heart-warming example of thankful living after reading the story of Mary Magdalene recently.  Mary was set free by Jesus after He cast out seven demons out of her. In every glimpse we have of her, she was acting out her appreciation for the freedom Christ had given her. From Mary, we learnt that thankful living is a precursor to experiencing the miraculous. May you and I continuously grow in grace of gratitude.

“If you have lived longer than a year, God has delivered you from death 10,000 times. With every breath, you owe Him everything.” ~ John Piper
