Billy Graham: His life, His book, His quotes

Billy Graham, one of the most significant and influential religious figures of the 20th century went to be with the Lord yesterday. Throughout his life, he preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to about 215 million people who attended one of his more than 400 Crusades, simulcasts and evangelistic rallies in more than 185 countries and territories. He reached millions more through TV, video, film, the internet and 34 books. His life greatly impacted many Christians and left an indelible mark in Christian history. Charles Chuck Swindoll, an evangelical Christian pastor and author said “My life has been profoundly impacted by Billy Graham – by his lifelong dedication to God’s calling on his life… his blameless character and honorable reputation…his pure love for God… and his straightforward, uncompromising proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Apart from his life, many including myself, have been challenged and encouraged through his books and quotes. In his autobiography, Just As I am, which I read nine years ago, Billy wrote: “I know that soon my life will be over. I thank God for it, and for all He has given me in this life. But I look forward to Heaven… to seeing Christ and bowing before Him in praise and gratitude for all He has done for us, and for using me on this earth by His grace – just as I am.” Billy who almost lived a century also left some powerful quotes. These are my favorites:

“I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.”

“My home is in Heaven. I’m just traveling through this world.”

“Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
