Knowing The Mind of God

Professor Stephen Hawking, who has died aged 76, was one of the world’s most brilliant theoretical physicists. He concluded in his book, – A Brief History of Time, which sold more than 25 million copies – that if we discover a complete theory of physics, we may be able to find the answer to the question of why we and the universe exists, “if we find the answer to that, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason – for then we would know the mind of God.” Stephen who broke records because of adversity however made a mistake by thinking that we needed to understand Physics theory or even why the universe exists before we can understand the mind of God. We don’t discover the mind of God through science, it’s through grace and faith. To know God’s mind, you must first believe in Jesus and God! Then as you search the Scripture and seek God daily, you will be better acquainted with Him! Furthermore, when you believe and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you are given the Holy Spirit who helps you to know all things including the mind of God. Mike Bennett in his interesting article – Reading the Mind of God writes “God thinks on a level far beyond human comprehension. Yet He is willing to give us the tools to read His mind.” Mike also explained that the books of the Bible provide a portal into God’s thinking and they reveal His mind.

“When you come to knowing God, the initiative lies on His side. If he does not show Himself, nothing you can do will enable you to find Him.” ~ C.S. Lewis
