Intentional living has been on my mind for some time now. The reason why I shared these two quotes on social media recently “Live intentionally! Read your Bible, pray always, reach out to needy or defenseless people, invest your talent, resources and time wisely.” and “Be intentional about taking at least 10000 steps daily this week #exercise” Before I go any further, what does intentional living mean? It has been defined as any lifestyle based on an individual or group’s conscious attempts to live according to their values and beliefs. Such lifestyles may be based on religious or ethical values, as well as coaching, personal transformation, and leadership training. A careful study of the words of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and Paul, the greatest apostle and spokesman for Christianity will reveal this lifestyle. Jesus lived to fulfill Scripture. He knew what would please His Father and then did it. He consciously brought glory to God with the combination of his information, insight and action. Also, Paul’s admonitions such as – pray without ceasing, rejoice evermore, renew your mind, do all things without grumbling and disputing etc., – are examples of intentional living. Finally, “when we figure out what will please Christ, and then do it, in every area of our lives whether Faith, Family, Health, Finances or Work, we will embark on the intentional life in Christ that we desire.
