Few days ago I watched the video of a pastor in Nigeria that told his members willing to give large some of money to come out to the altar. Some came out. Then, he turned to the remaining congregation and asked those that have any amount to give, to raise up their hands. Almost everyone did. Surprisingly, he told all of them including those on the altar to go and find those in need and give the money to them. He also said due to the current hardship in the country, the church would not be collecting tithe and offering from the congregation, for some time. More than just verbalizing love, this pastor wanted his congregation to show kindness to those around them before even demonstrating their devotion through giving at the Church. He wanted their actions to demonstrate they love others. Imagine if everyone including those in positions of authority intentionally show kindness to others. The world will indeed be a better place. Political officials would not think about themselves alone rather they would ensure that there is effective service delivery. CEOs would ensure they reduce the gap between their pay and their workers. Even the war between Russia and Ukraine would not have started in the first place. We would have significantly reduced the problems of food insecurity, inequality, extreme poverty, homelessness, drug abuse etc.,. So this week be intentional about being kind to others and be generous as you should be with your money, possessions and time!
“Practising kindness shows that you value self-control, a spirit of generosity and humble service.”
