Once, in a wretched attic, lived a widow and her son. She had defied her parents’ wishes to marry and had ventured to a foreign land with her husband. Unfortunately, he had proven unreliable and unfaithful. Several years later, he passed away, leaving her and their child with no provisions. With great effort, she managed to eke out a meager existence.
One fateful day, a knock came at the attic door. Recognizing the familiar handwriting on the letter, the mother anxiously broke the seal. Inside, there was a check and a slip of paper with just two words: “Come home.”
In a similar vein, all who follow Christ will experience a moment like this, although we cannot predict when it will arrive. It might occur during our daily toil, after a period of illness, or perhaps even as a moment of ‘rapture’. But at some point, a loving hand will rest upon our shoulder, and we will receive the succinct message: “Come home.”
“Our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior.” Scripture
