C.S. Lewis aptly noted that our current existence is akin to “shadow lands” when contrasted with the magnificence awaiting us in the future. Even the pinnacle of life is but a fleeting glimpse, a mere shadow cast by the brilliance of Heaven.
Yet, this doesn’t imply a dismissal of the present world and its pleasures. Rather, as Lewis suggested, the blessings bestowed upon us might be glimpses, anticipations of what lies ahead. For instance, the bliss of matrimony could be a prelude to the grandeur of the heavenly marriage feast, as described in Revelation 19:9.
Likewise, the splendor we find in God’s creation serves as a precursor to an even more profound beauty—the celestial radiance detailed in Revelation 21:23. Therefore, relish the goodness surrounding you, savor the joys of life, and take a moment to appreciate the roses along your path. Yet, let each of these divine gifts act as a gentle reminder, a whisper from eternity, pointing to the glory that awaits beyond the shadows.
