A few days ago, I noticed my colleague reading You Can’t Stay Here Forever by Katherine Lin. The title immediately made me think about the truth that no matter how hard we try—whether through a healthy diet, exercise, or even the latest innovations in biotechnology—none of us can stay here forever. While science continues to make strides in increasing longevity, extending life indefinitely is still beyond our grasp. No matter how long we live, a day will come when we must leave this world. Even if you reach the remarkable age of 100, that moment will eventually arrive.
Interestingly, the book itself isn’t focused on preparing for eternity; it’s centered on relationships and navigating life’s changes. Yet, the title serves as a subtle reminder of our temporal existence and compels me to reflect on a deeper question: what’s our plan for the life that comes after?
If we know we can’t remain on this earth forever, shouldn’t we have a plan for what comes next?
Let me share mine. Realizing how fleeting life is, I made the decision to give my life to Jesus Christ. By doing so, I believe in His promise of eternal life and the hope of living forever in His presence after my time here is done. You can also make that choice today. Jesus Himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Believing in Him opens the door to eternal life, so when we leave this world, we can enter into the fullness of His presence forever.
So, what’s your plan for eternity? Take a moment to reflect, because the choice we make now will shape our forever.
