Following Christ and loving both Him and our neighbors fulfills the heart of God’s law. Scripture tells us that Christ came to fulfill the law, not abolish it (Matthew 5:17). The Old Testament law was a guide or “tutor” to lead us to Christ (Galatians 3:24-25). Now that Christ has come, we are called to live under His new commandment—to love one another as He loved us (John 13:34).
Worship is no longer confined to a specific day, such as the Sabbath, but instead is a daily offering as we walk with God in spirit and in truth. Christ made it clear when speaking with the Samaritan woman at the well: “A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks” (John 4:23-24). Now, through Christ, every day is holy, and we find our “rest” in Him (Hebrews 4:9-10).
In this new covenant, we live in the freedom to serve and worship God continuously, making each day an opportunity to love and honor Him. This daily walk of worship draws us closer to Him, shaping us to reflect His love to others as we fulfill the greatest commandment—to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39).
