After reading about US President-elect, Joe Biden four priorities: COVID 19, economic recovery, racial equity and climate change, recently, I asked myself, what would be my response if someone asks for my four top priorities in life. I also like to ask you the same question. See mine below:
- Relationship with God. This is very important to me because there is no me without Jesus. So, I want to ensure I devote quality time to read the Bible and to pray everyday. I don’t want to become so busy that life turns into a flurry of activity leaving no room for quiet fellowship alone with God. No matter how much I have to do, I must always have time for prayer.
- Work life balance. I want to be intentional about balancing well family, resting and work times so that none suffers. I mustn’t harm nor indulge the ‘Golden Goose’ but make sure she is healthy, efficient and joyful.
- Serving others. I want to live a life of purpose and greatness and the best way to achieve that is to add value to others by serving them. Jim Rohn said “Service to others leads to greatness.” I believe this with every fibre of my being.
- Continuous learning. I want to be a lifelong learner that keeps abreast of developments in his field of expertise and other areas of interest. The importance of continuous learning is revealed in this Henry Ford’s quote “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.”
“We determine our destination by our priorities.” Keith K. Hilbig
