A snap survey by the Sunday Times revealed that a large number of candidates that sought admission to SA universities this year were keen on becoming teachers. The bachelor of education (Bed) degree was the top choice for candidates applying for the first time, at 12 of 20 universities (South Africa has 26 universities). Nursing degree and Law degree were the second and third most popular, respectively. You can see that teaching will never stop being a highly valued and respected profession. AI is not going to steal the teaching job. However, those of us that are teachers and those who aspire to teach must always remember and understand that the teacher’s responsibility is great because our words affect others. If you are in a teaching or leadership role, you should always ask yourself “how is my speech and example affecting those that I teach or lead?” Personally, I aspire to be a ‘perfect teacher’ in terms of my speech. I want those that learn from me, to leave my presence encouraged, inspired and challenged to be all God has destined them to be. Even though I can be a perfect teacher, I know I won’t be perfect as a person. Like any Child of God however, I am ‘perfect in Christ.” In God’s sight, I am ‘complete in Him.”
Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. Scripture
