I recently gave a presentation titled ‘Becoming an early investor in innovation’. Early investing in innovation entails providing crucial financial backing and resources to nascent companies or projects that are forging new paths with their revolutionary ideas, technologies, or business models. Another avenue for early investment in innovation involves identifying and acquiring assets that possess untapped potential, long before their true value is recognized by the masses. This approach can encompass a wide range of assets, spanning from stocks, real estate, and cryptocurrencies to collectibles and intellectual property.
During my presentation, I delved into the fundamental aspects of being an early investor in innovation, emphasizing that those who venture into the realm of innovation willingly embrace higher levels of risk compared to traditional investors. They understand that the greater the risk, the greater the potential rewards. In support of this notion, I shared a quote by Mark W. Yusko, which resonated deeply with me. He stated, “The greatest wealth is created by being an early investor in innovation. Making that investment requires believing in something before the majority of people understand it. You will be mocked, ridiculed, and criticized for your non-consensus action. It is absolutely worth it.” This quote beautifully encapsulates the numerous benefits that await those who dare to take the path of early investment in innovation.
