As a person of faith, I believe it is possible for my country, Nigeria to become the envy of many nations just like many have prophesied. Who could have thought three months ago that African nations would turn the tables and impose travel restrictions against U.S, Europe and China to stave off coronavirus.
So, If as Africans, we humble ourselves and pray and seek God’s face and turn from our selfish and corrupt ways, instead become people with will and vison to accomplish greatness, not for themselves only, their immediate families and friends, but for their country, God will definitely prosper us.
And we will be able to say like the Israelites “It was like a dream come true when you freed us from our bondage…” The Israelites were used to many dramatic shift in fortunes. One example was when the man of God, Elisha said during a dire famine “…This is what the LORD says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.” It looked impossible nevertheless it came to pass anyway.
Nelson Mandela used to say “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” Therefore, whatever the problem we may be facing today, let’s know there can be a dramatic shift in fortune if we as a people are tired of our circumstances and willing to change. The fortune of Africa is in our hands!
“Don’t ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” J. F. Kennedy
