How to measure your life

How to measure your life

It is important to always ask ourselves questions. Questions make us think deeply and help us determine whether we are at the level we should be. Among the questions we should ask often are: What am I here for? How will I measure my life? What legacy am I leaving behind? I can go on and on. But, I like to focus on the second question. Personally, I want to measure my life based on my demonstration of love to God and others. I should confess here that my faith in Christ, has a strong influence on how I measure my life. Christ expects me to be selfless and to make positive impact in the lives of the people I come across. If you are thinking of measuring your life, it’s wise to determine what matters to God since He is the one that will assess whether you lived well at the end of the day. I sincerely believe that the metric by which God will assess our lives isn’t the money in our bank or our achievements in life but the individual people whose lives we have touched. Clayton M. Christen writes in HBR’s 10 Must Reads On Managing Yourself “Don’t worry about the level of individual prominence you have achieved; worry about the individuals you have helped become better people…Think about the metric by which your life will be judged, and make a resolution to live everyday so that in the end, your life will be judged a success.”
