Nigeria: India of Africa?

President Biden announced last week he planned to launch an exciting new program that will foster a partnership between the United States and India. This collaboration will involve American astronauts, Indian astronauts, as well as entrepreneurs, scientists, and students from both countries. By joining forces, India and the United States will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the 21st century. This partnership is a logical step for the United States, considering India’s position as a global leader in IT and technology. Many of the world’s leading tech companies are currently led by talented individuals of Indian origin.

When contemplating the growth trajectory of my own country, Nigeria, I am filled with optimism that we can become the India of Africa. Nigeria has the potential to emulate India’s successes and achievements. We can witness the positive aspects that India offers, such as technological advancements and economic growth. Unfortunately, we have also faced challenges that India has grappled with, such as a high percentage of people living in abject poverty. However, by learning from India’s experiences, we can navigate these obstacles and forge a prosperous future for Nigeria.
