In his book, America’s Financial Apocalypse: How to Profit from the Next Great Depression published in 2006, Stathis wrote about the coming financial apocalypse that would result in a global oil crisis, collapse of the stock market and massive job losses. Two years after the book was published there was a financial crisis and currently an unprecedented economic crisis caused by Covid-19.

The price of U.S. benchmark crude oil that would be delivered next month sold for around $15 a barrel on the 20th of April and falling below zero for the first time in history during the day. However, investors holding gold and dollar found their wealth protected; not only that, it appreciated. Gold along with dollar is the Ark that allowed them to avoid the ‘flood’.

Like this pandemic that caught the world on unaware though experts warned of it coming, a final apocalypse – the total destruction and end of the world – will happen one day. I once shared about this event at the first dinner my wife and I had with my Head of Department. I had just resumed at my current place of work when the professor invited us for a dinner.

After we had talked about many topics with him and his wife, I decided to share my faith. I used the story of Noah’s Ark and the flood. I told them that Jesus Christ is today’s Noah Ark and anyone that believes in Him will be protected from the impending doom (the worst being eternal separation from God).

Today, I share a good news. We have an Ark that anyone with foresight can climb aboard to avoid the ‘flood’. The Ark to protect against the final apocalypse…is Jesus Christ.

“Noah looked like an idiot until it started to rain. Keep building.” Unknown

“Since all these things are on the verge of being dismantled, don’t you see how vital it is to live a holy life? We must be consumed with godliness.” Scripture

Prayer:

  1. Lord, help me and my friend reading this to be morally clean and spiritually alert.
  2. Help me and my friend to put our confidence in what is lasting and eternal and not be bound to earth and its treasures or pursuits.
  3. Help me and my friend to spend more of our time striving to develop Christ-like character rather than piling up possessions.
