The Great Reset is a proposal by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to rebuild the economy sustainably following the COVID-19 pandemic. It consists of seven fundamental pillars: (1) shaping the economic recovery, (2) redesigning social contracts, skills and jobs (3) restoring the health of environment (4) developing sustainable business models (5) revitalizing global cooperation (6) strengthening regional development and (7) harnessing the fourth industrial revolution. However, as wonderful as the proposal is, it won’t be achieved without the relevant stakeholders seeing the importance of hitting the reset button. The pandemic must be seen as a “rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine, and reset our world.” Furthermore, it’s a chance to do our bit in tackling some of our society’s flaws such as hunger, extreme poverty and inequality.
