Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s final words before he died of a massive heart attack on the 5th of March 2013 were: “I don’t want to die. Please don’t let me die.” Very sad! I have been wondering, did someone tell him about Jesus. If they did, what was his response? Our response to Jesus on earth will determine where we will spend eternity. One of the profound statements ever spoken by Christ is this: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” I believe this Jesus, and I hope you do too. Once we have Jesus, we have no reason to be afraid of death because our Saviour has conquered the grave. I like the way Billy Graham described his attitude regarding this issue: “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it! I shall be more alive then, than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” My prayer for everyone reading this today is that, if Jesus tarries, you will still be here in good health at age 90+ or even 100 if you like. You will not die but live to declare the glory of the LORD.
“A lot of people do not muster the courage to live their dreams because they are afraid to die.” Les Brown
