He had been in agony all night. He had been hurried from Chiapas to Pilate, from Pilate to Herod and from Herod back to Pilate. He had little strength left. They were eager for His blood and therefore led Him out to die, weighed down with the cross.
It is Jesus who is brought before the priests and rulers and pronounced guilty. Bearing our sin, in the form of that cross, our great Scapegoat is led away by appointed officers of justice. Is that your sin He is carrying with Him? Have you confessed your sin and trusted in Him? If so, then your sin has been transferred to Christ. Don’t let this picture vanish until you have rejoiced in your own deliverance and adored the loving Redeemer who took your sins upon Himself
