2022 was a very difficult year for most investors especially for those that invested in risk assets. Investors fled all tech stocks including Coinbase, Bitcoin and Tesla. However, there was one fearless and tough investor, Cathie Wood, who was courageous when others were fearful. Cathie Wood’s Ark Investment Management funds bought about 75,000 shares of Tesla, nearly 300,000 of Coinbase, and more than 3,500 of troubled Grayscale Bitcoin Trust last year. Cathy and her team made their calculated risk after analysing these companies and finding that they were sacrificing short-term profitability for exponential and highly profitable long-term growth. Cathy reminded me of the Biblical Deborah, a prophetess and leader of the Israelites who along with Barak defeated Sisera at the River Kishon in Israel. I have a question for you. How tough and courageous were you in 2022. If you weren’t tough last year, 2023 presents another opportunity for you to be courageous and start living your best life. Take that calculated risk, start that business, invest in great assets, travel to a place you have never been before or learn a new skill. What special thing you have been thinking of doing? Just do it! Don’t let fear stop you from doing what will add value to you and others. However, understand that the best way to be tough and unbeatable in 2023 and beyond is by speaking to Christ in worship and prayer, and listening to Him speak to you through His Word, the Bible and allowing His influence to help you live with patience, endurance and courage.
