It means everything to me because Jesus Christ has conquered death. That makes all the difference – now and forever! His resurrection is the key to the Christian faith because (1) Just as He said, Jesus rose from the dead. We can be confident that He will accomplish all He has promised (2) His resurrection signifies that the living Christ, not a false prophet or imposter, is the ruler of God’s eternal Kingdom, (3) We can be certain of our own resurrection because Jesus was resurrected. Death is not the end – there is future life and (4) The divine power that brought Jesus back to life is now available to us to bring our spiritually dead selves back to life.
Billy Graham writes “If Christ is risen, as the Scriptures teach and as hundreds of witnesses testified (none of whom ever recanted that testimony despite threats and death for many of them), then we have the ultimate hope of humanity – eternal life with God who made us and the certainty of life beyond the grave.”
Resurrection of Jesus Christ is also the key to God’s plan for the future. There is a future Kingdom and returning King. The Angels assured the disciples that the risen Christ would one day be the returning Christ “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
