Recently I was trying to close my car door from outside but didn’t know the seat belt was outside. The door bounced back and hit the door of the adjacent car, leaving a dent on it. I later apologized to the owner and offered to repair it. He is now happy because the door of his car is looking newer after the dent and other light scratches were fixed by the panel beater. It cost me R3500 ($232). Sometimes, the unexpected happens perhaps due to our mistakes or of others. However, instead of blaming ourselves or regretting, we can be calm knowing that there is a purpose for everything. Also, we can refuse to lose our joy and peace because God, the possessor of absolute power and absolute wisdom can help us to handle it. One thing you can be sure will come your way this year is temptation. But you don’t have to be afraid because God will help you to handle it. Scripture says “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.” So be fearless this year and know that you can handle whatever challenges or temptations coming your way. Those challenges will never be stumbling blocks rather they will be stepping stones to your greatness in Jesus name.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.” Scripture
Note: I didn’t share this story (my car door hitting my neighbor’s door) so that you can sympathize with me. Please don’t it.
