I once attended a multicultural church with my family while visiting United States. After the service, I asked for a Wifi I could connect my phone to, from Blessing Mortenson, a sister that came to greet us (I needed the Wifi to call an Uber driver; I had roamed my mobile phone but my service provider messed up. Roaming didn’t work). But instead of Blessing assisting me with connectivity or helping to call an uber driver, I was surprised when she told us, “I will be serving you today. I will take you to anywhere you want to go.” And that was what she did. She took us to a mall where we did some shopping, then she made sure we had lunch together at Chipotle Mexican Grill, after which she dropped us off at our hotel. Blessing saw in us an opportunity to do good and serve. It didn’t matter that she was seeing us for the first time. Like Blessing, you should consciously seek for opportunity to do good to everyone – especially to those in the family of faith. When you serve others, you demonstrate your love for Christ and you will be rewarded. So serve joyfully this year.
Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it. Hebrews 13:2
